Tokenization Watch.
A weekly explainer about tokenization. Every entry uses the same three parts, so you always know where to look.
The format
- What changed: the topic of the week, in one or two sentences.
- What it means in plain words: why it matters, with no jargon.
- One word to know: a single term, defined simply.
Week 1: the starting point
What changed
The way ownership is recorded. Assets such as dollars, fund shares, commodities, and stocks can now be recorded as tokens on public blockchains. Brokerages and issuers already offer tokenized stocks on public chains, including Solana.
What it means in plain words
The asset stays the same. Only the record changes. A token can move between wallets at any hour, and transfers are visible on a public ledger. A tokenized stock may not carry the same rights as a share held through a broker, such as voting, and availability depends on where you live.
One word to know
Tokenization: recording a claim on an asset as a token on a blockchain.
Educational only. Tokenization Watch explains ideas; it never recommends buying or selling anything.
